Creativity can ebb and flow for an artist.  Somedays I long for paint to cover my fingers as I hop from canvas to canvas, adding details and texture.  Somedays the paintbrush doesn't leave the jar and the paint tubes stay capped.  It was during one of these painting lulls that I started playing with paper.  I haven't stopped since!

I've been finding loads of joy in crafting elegant cards that brighten the day of those who send, and receive them.  Each card is like a little piece of art - full of texture and color.  It's mixed media on a different scale - combining inks, glaze, embossing powders and paper.  

Technique is such a personal thing in art, and I wanted to learn more and up-level my game.  So I applied for, and was accepted into the prestigious Altenew Educators Certification Program.  Think of it like continuing ed - for artists!  It's 30 classes over three levels where I am learning many new things - from ink blending, to scene making, to layering stencils.  Each class requires a finished project (which you can find here on my instagram channel).  Each level concludes with a larger project, and eventually leads to teaching online classes yourself to other aspiring artists and paper crafters.  I've taught many live classes, but teaching the online ones will be a new frontier.
